Why Choose Selanu
Craftsmanship Over Volume
In a region where boat trips are abundant, Selanu was built around a different principle — that the quality of a voyage matters more than the number of guests aboard it.

Advantages Built Into Every Journey
Intimate Group Sizes

In Depth
Each Advantage, Examined
Professional Maritime Expertise
Selanu's captains carry formal certifications from the Marine Department of Malaysia and have accumulated decades of experience navigating the Strait of Malacca in all conditions. This isn't merely paper qualification — it's the difference between a captain who follows a map and one who reads the water.
- Class 1 Certificates of Competency for all captains
- Local knowledge of currents, anchorages, and weather patterns
- Over 20 years navigating Penang's coastal waters
Navigation & Safety Technology
Every Selanu vessel carries modern navigational and safety equipment. GPS chart plotters, VHF marine radio, EPIRB, and up-to-date weather forecasting tools are standard on all voyages — not optional additions.
- GPS chart plotters with current Malaysian maritime charts
- Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) onboard
- Real-time weather monitoring before and during voyages
Guest Service Excellence
From the moment you enquire to the moment you step back ashore, the Selanu team handles the details. Our guest experience team is available to answer questions, accommodate dietary preferences, and coordinate special arrangements well before departure day.
- Personal pre-voyage communication with every booking
- Dietary requirements accommodated on request
- Private charter arrangements available for all voyages
Transparent Value
Selanu's pricing is clear. The cost quoted covers the vessel, crew, catering, and equipment. There are no hidden fuel surcharges, no equipment rental fees, and no surprise additions at the end of the day. What you're quoted is what you pay.
- All-inclusive pricing — catering, crew, equipment included
- No hidden surcharges or add-on fees
- Deposit and balance payment schedule communicated clearly upfront
Outcomes That Stay with You
A Selanu voyage is structured around meaningful time at sea — not a checklist of attractions to tick. Guests return with a genuine sense of the waters they've sailed, the landscapes they've anchored beside, and the quieter pace that Penang's outer coastline makes possible.
- Thoughtfully paced itineraries — no rushing between stops
- Anchored time in secluded bays and sheltered waters
- Genuine engagement with Penang's maritime environment

Distinctive Features
What You Won't Find Elsewhere
Heritage Route Knowledge
Our routes trace passages that have been sailed by traders, fishers, and travellers for generations. The crew's commentary draws on this living history — not a tour script, but genuine local knowledge passed down through the family.
Overnight Anchorage Experience
Selanu is one of very few operators in northern Malaysia offering multi-night sailing with proper ensuite cabin accommodation. Evenings at anchor in secluded bays — a genuinely rare offering in this region.
Activity Equipment Included
Snorkeling gear, marine binoculars, paddleboards, and fishing rods are carried on appropriate voyages without additional charge. You don't need to arrange or bring anything beyond personal items.
Weather Postponement Policy
If conditions are assessed as unsuitable, we postpone without penalty. Rescheduling is handled personally by our team — not through an automated system — and your original rate is honoured on the new date.
